Tires
|
Every car at one time or another has to replace their tires. That is one part of the car that gets a work out every second that you drive it. The tires are not protected by the hood of the car; they are exposed to the elements, rain, snow, heat and ice. All of those plus road conditions and the length that you drive your car can contribute to the wear and tear of the tires. Racing cars use performance tires; they are available for your car as well though they tend to be a little expensive. These tires are designed for a high rate of speed but they are also made with a better traction than other tires. The drawback to performance tires is that they tend to lose traction on wet surfaces because they were designed for dry surface areas like for race tracks.
Winter tires are made for the elements of the cold winter months, they can have better traction for ice and snow but these tires are good only in the winter because the rubber compound of the tire tends to get soft under the heat of the summer. Once the tire gets soft you have to change them anyway. So if you are thinking about winter tires have a plan to change them in the spring time.
All Season tires are made for the throws of winter and the summer heat. These types of tires are good in the snow and ice as well as the rain and the heat. The thing about all season tires is that are a compromise for both summer and winter. They will their good times as well as the bad. The all season tires, because they are a compromise will tend to be better in the summer than in the winter.
